Audience: Administrators
Overview
Custom charts are charts that are created using your base chart data. Chart documents allow Administrators and Read/Write users to make on-demand changes to formatting, branch styles, employee data and reporting lines. For users on the Pro tier, changes are tracked in the Changes panel, so that users can audit the manual adjustments they've made.
Creating a custom chart
The following example provides step-by-step instructions for creating a custom chart that only includes employees that had a start date in Q1 of 2025.
- Click on the Edit button, and then click on Create custom chart.
- Choose the record at the top of the chart, and how many levels beneath that record should be included in the custom chart.
-
Hover over the section that states "Would you like to apply filters to narrow the focus of your chart?" and then click on the pencil icon that appears.
Note
You do not need to add a filter in order to create a custom chart. Additionally, you can modify the filter used to create the custom chart at any time after chart creation.
- Select a date field (i.e 'Start date') from the Field dropdown menu.
- Click on the Comparison dropdown menu, and then select the date range option.
- Click on the From dropdown menu, and then select the specific date option.
- Type a date into the text box to the right, or click on the calendar icon and select a specific date for the start of the range.
- Click on the To dropdown menu, and then select the specific date option. Enter or select a date for the end of the range.
-
Optionally, check the include filtered managers checkbox, so that records that meet the criteria, but report to managers who do not, are still included in the chart.
Note
If you do not check this option, records that records that meet the filter criteria, but report to managers who do not can be found in the Staging panel.
- Click on Save, and then on Create.
- A custom chart is generated with records with a start date within the defined date range.
